| Q&A with the Quest Master |
| Recently I had the chance to
ask the mysterious Quest Master some questions. When I posted the first
news story on Dungeon Quest 64 I definitely thought is was a hoax, now I
am leaning away from my initial response to the project. Although many of
my doubts have been put aside, I am not 100% certain this thing is real. I
think that most of the Jaguar community will remain skeptical until
a public demo is released. For those of you interested (I hope that
includes most of you) here it is:
The question are in bold and the Quest Master's answers are blue.
Why is it so important for you to remain anonymous? Identity leads to pressure we don't want at this time. Do you have any previous programming experience on any platforms? Any demos released on other platforms?Yes, lots of programming experience on other platforms, and we have also been involved in the released of commercial software. Is only one person working on the game or is it a group effort? A very small group, at this time. We are in the process of getting a published science fantasy author to help fine-tune the storyline. How much work has been done on the game?
Research - 95%. You will see from the demo that the game looks very rough, but all the mechanics are there, the opposite of most Jag projects! Are there any screenshots or movies of the game? No screenshots or movies, we hope somebody will make some from the demos as they are released, and put them on some web-site. When can a demo be expected? Early in the new year 2002. I will tell you as an exclusive. I have been through this process before with some notorious game hoaxes such as the whole Minux thing. I cannot comment on the Minux thing, as there never seemed to be any substance to the hoax, so I did not understand why any- body should have thought there was anything behind the charade. Is there any way you can prove, right now, that you are legit? No, I don't think so, you'll have to wait for the demo. In reference to what they are using to developed their game, the Quest Master stated "we use both the BJL magic and the fruits of Atari in our developments, the magic of "Flash ROM" and "Alpine" being at our command." I do have some more information, however, I have been asked not to post it. Don't bother asking for it; I won't share it with anyone. I can say that I do not know who the Quest Master is. Be sure to visit Area 64 for future updates. |
